Can I use the Maryland short form, Form 503?
You may be able to use short Form 503 to file your state income taxes if:
- Your federal adjusted gross income is less than $100,000.
- You are a full time resident of Maryland (part-year
residents, nonresidents, fiscal year taxpayers and returns covering less than
a 12-month period, cannot use Form 503).
- You do not itemize deductions.
- You have no additions or subtractions from
income.
- You did not make estimated income tax payments
for the current year.
- You did not have a tax refund applied to your
estimated tax account for the current year.
- You have not requested an extension by filing
Form 502E.
- You do not claim a tax credit using either Form
500CR or 502CR.
- You do not want all or part of your refund
credited to next year's estimated tax account.
