Refundable Earned Income Credit

If your Federal earned income credit is greater than your Maryland tax AND YOU HAVE ONE OR MORE DEPENDENTS that you can claim on your Federal return, you may be eligible for a refundable earned income credit from the state. Use the worksheet in Instruction 21 of the Maryland tax booklet to calculate the refundable credit.

Taxpayers who are not otherwise required to file a Maryland return must file to receive the cash benefit.
