Paying Maryland Taxes with a Credit Card

credit cards

You can pay your Maryland tax with a credit card, using VISA, MasterCard, American Express or Discover. This service applies to taxes owed for the current year or any back year (if you have a bill). If you file electronically by April 15, you have until April 30 to make the credit card payment.

You can make your payment online at Official Payments Corp or over the phone by calling 1-800-2PAYTAX.

Be sure to have both your tax bill and credit card on hand. Enter Jurisdiction Code 3000 at the appropriate prompt. You may also be asked to enter the following information:

  • 13-digit number on your tax bill
  • Social Security number
  • Phone number
  • ZIP Code

After your payment is authorized, you will be given a confirmation number that you should keep for your records.

Official Payments Corporation charges a convenience fee for processing the credit card transaction. The fee is not paid to the state of Maryland. You can calculate your convenience fee using Official Payments' convenience fee calculator.

For assistance with your credit card transaction or credit card bill, visit Official Payments Corp. Customer Service

Estimated taxpayers

If you choose to pay your estimated quarterly income taxes with a credit card, either online or by telephone, then you do not need to file Form 502D.
