Paying Maryland taxes with a credit card

It's easy to pay your Maryland taxes by credit card. The credit card payment option is available for personal income taxes and business withholding and sales and use taxes. MasterCard, Discover, American Express and VISA are accepted.

If you make your tax payment by credit card, you will be charged a convenience fee by Official Payments Corp. for processing the credit card transaction. This convenience fee is not paid to the state of Maryland and is applicable to all tax payments made by credit card.

Personal income taxes

You can pay your Maryland tax return balance and make your estimated tax and extension tax payments by credit card.

If you owe additional tax, you can still file electronically and take advantage of an extended payment deadline. If you file electronically by April 15 deadline, you have until April 30 to make your electronic payment. Visit www.marylandtaxes.com to learn about the different ways to electronically file your taxes. There are two ways to make a tax payment by credit card. You can make your payment online by visiting www.officialpayments.com. If you filed a Maryland tax return last year, you may also make your credit card payment by telephone by calling 1-800-2PAYTAX. If you did not file a Maryland tax return for the previous tax year, you must use the Internet payment method if you wish to pay by credit card.

When you make your payment, you will be asked to enter a jurisdiction code. Use jurisdiction code 3000 for your Maryland state tax payments. You will be required to enter your Social Security number, phone number and ZIP code. If you are making a payment for a Maryland tax bill, you will also be asked to enter the 13-digit number that appears on your bill.

After your payment is authorized you will be given a confirmation number. Please keep this confirmation for your records.

Business taxes

You can make your Maryland employer withholding and sales and use tax payments by credit card.

There are two ways to make a tax payment by credit card. You can make your credit card payment online by visiting www.officialpayments.com or by telephone by calling 1-800-2PAYTAX.

When you make your payment, you will be asked to enter a jurisdiction code. Use jurisdiction code 3000 for your Maryland state tax payments. You will be required to enter your federal employer identification number and Maryland central registration number along with central tax information.

After your payment is authorized you will be given a confirmation number. Please keep this confirmation for your records.
