Are purchases made on military bases subject to the sales tax?

No. The purchases are exempt from the Maryland sales and use tax. Under Maryland tax laws, merchandise purchased from a facility located on property held or acquired by or for the use of the United States for any military or naval purpose is not subject to the Maryland sales and use tax. Accordingly, any items purchased from such a facility outside of Maryland for use in Maryland, is not subject to the use tax.
